The community of Maumee provides the charm of a quaint historic downtown while maintaining one of Northwest Ohio’s largest business centers. With its eastern and southern boundary along the Maumee River, it also provides some of the area’s best parks and vistas. Named as both one of America’s most livable cities and an All-America City in 2006, Maumee now has the titles that its citizens already knew – Maumee is a great place to live!
The Maumee City Schools earned the state of Ohio’s highest rating in 2008 of Excellence with Distinction. The recently completed Performing Arts Center and newly constructed Fort Miami Elementary School show this community’s dedication to its children.
Maumee’s entertainment areas include the newly constructed Shops at Fallen Timbers, an outdoor shopping center with many national retail stores, restaurants and a hotel. Also, enjoy walking the stores, historic movie theater and restaurants of downtown Maumee or visiting the unique Anderson’s General Store, where gourmet foods are found next to farm equipment.
Each season brings a chance for the community to come together: the run for the Walleye on the river and children’s reading event Claire’s Day in the spring, the community Independence Day fireworks and the Maumee Summer Fair in the summer, Maumee Panther football and the Maumee Historic Home Tour in the fall or the Holiday Lights Parade and Holiday Hustle 5k Walk/Run in the winter.
